Afolabi is a thorough bred investment banking professional with over 18 years of experience spanning corporate finance, project and structured finance, financial advisory, and resource mobilization.

Throughout his career, he has successfully mobilized over US $10 billion from international financial institutions, multilateral and bilateral development banks to support Africa’s developmental and strategic objectives, including landmark deals in the oil & gas and energy sectors.  

From 2007 to 2024, Afolabi served at Afreximbank as Senior Manager, Specialized Finance, where he managed relationships with IFIs, MDBs, DFIs, export credit agencies, and other institutional investors, with a focus on mobilizing resources to advance Africa’s development agenda. Prior to that, he was Team Lead, Project and Structured Finance at Access Bank Plc.  

Afolabi has strengthened his expertise through several technical and leadership programs, including executive education at London Business School and The Wharton School. His career reflects a deep commitment to driving sustainable economic growth through innovative financing solutions.
